OUR MISSION

Global food waste is a far-reaching problem with tremendous financial, ethical and environmental costs. Unfortunately, One-third of all food produced for human consumption is lost or wasted globally, which amounts to over 1.3 billion tons per year. Food is lost or wasted throughout the supply chain from initial agricultural production through to final consumption.

When edible items get discarded, it’s not just the food that is wasted. Consider all the resources required to bring food from the farm to your table: water for irrigation, land for planting, fuel for powering harvest and transport vehicles, combined with greenhouse gases and their effect on the atmosphere. This unmanaged wastage of food is a truly outrageous situation, and we are all morally and ethically obliged to do something about it.

OUR CHALLENGE

Having come from very humble beginnings, Patrick is extremely sensitive towards food wastage and, along with Jacqui, has aimed to eliminate any form of food wastage within their environment and control. Due to the geographical position of Seven Oaks, there is not a constant flow of feet through the door to justify a permanent restaurant with a regular menu, as this will result in a ridiculous amount of food wastage.

OUR AIM

At Salt of the Earth, the aim is to create a unique pop-up space with fine food for a limited number of patrons and once a month only. We want to introduce new chefs and attract known chefs to delight you with food that matches the wine, which is also “Produced with Passion”. This pop-up will have zero food wastage; hence pre-booking is essential, and the menu is set.

BOOKINGS

Our pop-up events will be advertised between 20 to 30 days in advance, along with the chef and the offered menu of the day. We look forward to entertaining you at Salt of the Earth.

Note: these are adults-only events.
